More than 200 pupils competed in the AB Lifosa-sponsored Chemistry Olympiad

The 59th Lithuanian Students’ National Chemistry Olympiad took place on 25-27 February. Its participants, pupils in grades 9-12, had to perform two theoretical and one practical task. The Olympiad was held remotely, with 225 pupils competing in it.

"Every year, a large number of participants in the Olympiad are evidence of the interest of the future specialists of the younger generation in the field of natural sciences. The latter are inseparable from the efforts to create a high value-added economy in Lithuania, and knowledge of chemistry not only ensures the continuity of companies and entire sectors, but also lays the foundation for new discoveries, innovations and application of the world's best practices here in Lithuania. Therefore, it is important for us to contribute both to the training of future specialists and to the interest in chemical science,” says Jonas Dastikas, General Manager of AB Lifosa, a long-term sponsor of the Lithuanian Students’ National Chemistry Olympiad.

Pupils of Kėdainiai region also performed well in this year's Olympiad. Nojus Rabecas (teacher – Rasa Lažinskienė), a representative of Kėdainiai Atžalynas Gymnasium, took the 3rd place in the ninth grade group.

Laimis Jurkėnas, a pupil of Kėdainiai Light Gymnasium educated by teacher Irma Krivickienė, won the first place among the eleventh graders and is invited to compete for the opportunity to represent Lithuania at the International Chemistry Olympiad.
