Lifosa awarded the winner of the International Chemistry Olympiad

A special guest enriched the winter holiday period at Lifosa: Laimis Jurkėnas, a student of Kėdainiai Light Gymnasium, visited the company. At this year's International Chemistry Olympiad IChO 2021, the high school student won a bronze medal. Appreciating the achievements of the young talent and encouraging him to continue in his pursuit of victories, the company presented Jurkėnas with a gift – a laptop.

Jurkėnas is educated by Irma Krivickienė, a chemistry teacher at the Kėdainiai Light Gymnasium. This year she was awarded the title of the teacher of 2021 by Kėdainiai district municipality.

“We are proud of the achievements of students and teachers in Kėdainiai region. We are extremely pleased with both Laimis' excellent performance at the International Chemistry Olympiad and the student's impressive results at the Lithuanian Students' Chemistry Olympiad. We hope for the young talent to continue to succeed in the extremely interesting path of chemistry and to become a real discovery for the chemical science and industry,” said Asta Švobienė, an HR director at AB Lifosa.

According to her, the company has always paid special attention to supporting the education of children. Lifosa has been a proud partner of national competitions in the Lithuanian language, chemistry, mathematics, and the Russian language for a number of years now. Encouraging Kėdainiai district students to pursue higher chemistry education, Lifosa launched the Future Formula program in 2020. The company awarded a scholarship of EUR 1,000 to its winner, Jonas Piepalis, a graduate of Kėdainiai Light Gymnasium, who chose to study chemistry at the university.

On 2019 October, Lifosa AB signed a cooperation agreement with Vytautas Magnus University and Kėdainiai Bright Gymnasium. This agreement commits the parties to strengthening partnerships between education, science and industry, focusing efforts on motivating students’ interest in science and technology, and working hand in hand in nurturing the professionals of the future.
